GOOD BIRTH KEEPERS are EARTH KEEPERS!
June 21, 2010
Dear women’s rights supporter,
Globally more than ever women have choices. Yet, when it comes to childbirth, women’s choices are increasingly limited. Many feminist and other women’s rights activists have made great strides in protecting a woman’s reproductive choice. However, the needs of birth-giving women are often times overlooked. Midwives, birth doula and activists have become greatly concerned with choice in the arena of giving birth.
Pregnant mothers often find their choices in how to give birth imposed by a politically charged medical landscape. Instead of making choices about giving birth based on her own unique needs, her choices are dictated by institutional polices and childbirth attendant preferences.
The Natural Birth Institute (NBI) strives to create a world where mothers are at the center of the decision making process in childbirth. For most mothers the ability to make choices inspires a sense of security and confidence which in turn enables her to get in touch with her own birth giving instinct.
Empower All Women! Become a Birth Doula. If you know any women, or good men for that matter, who want to enrich their lives please pass this information on to them. This doula training program will serve as a catalyst for those who want to truly empower the lives of birth-giving women.
A vital component of women’s health is birth wellness. It is crucial that we have more well trained and nurturing birth workers, who trust birth, in our community and beyond.
Sincerely,
The Landes, NBI Founders

Return to the Ancient Ways for a New and Greener Future.
GREEN BIRTH to SAVE our PLANET!
We can Recycle our trash & Buy Organic produce but with over 4 million new humans born in the US every year alone, Planet Earth requires that we severe our ties to the Petro-Chemical Medical Industry and to return to the Ancient ways of Natural Birth & Breastfeeding for a New and Greener future.
The Natural Birth Institute (NBI) is fiercely committed to preserving the art of birthing naturally. Â The preservation of natural, unadulterated childbirth is essential to the well being of humankind as well as the ecological health of our planet.
Breastmilk, the best food for babies, has a zero carbon imprint. The worldwide packaging pollution and waste of Artificial Baby Formula alone, is too much for our fragile eco-system to bear. Breastmilk is truly an ORGANIC FOOD that nourishes the newborn’s body and soul.
Babies are significantly more likely to be breastfeed by mothers who gave birth naturally. A Biologically normal birth is a natural birth.
It is a birth that remains whole and intact.
It begins spontaneously; the rhythm of the labor is allowed to unravel at will. The mother chooses how to move and how to give birth to her baby, Mama and Baby stay together always. Ultimately, the integrity of the unique experience is preserved.
Midwives honor this premise and work with out the dependency of machines and narcotics. The environmental impact of medicalized birth is tremendous. The manufacturing, distribution, usage and the disposal of pharmaceuticals, plastics and machinery to support the medical childbirth industry are simply TOO MUCH FOR OUR FRAGILE ECOSYSTEM TO BEAR. The monetary cost of hospital births must also be changed! Billions of Birth Dollars are funneled into hospitals and related industries, which almost never adopt environmentally sustainable practices.
Birth Restoration is the eco-conscious approach to human birth. Homebirth is both ecologically and economically sustainable. Since birth became hospitalized the cost of having a baby has gone up, along with maternal mortality.  In today’s world Hospital birth is not neither ecologically sustainable or fiscally responsible.
To restore birth Green Planet Principals must be applied. Homebirth, Doula Care and Breastfeeding generate a very low to zero carbon imprints, but high on healing humanity and SAVING OUR PLANET.
